I'm a newbie to Renaissance Kingdoms, but your Order caught my eye, and I decided to look further.
I am interested, but do feel that the idea of using US military ranks in a Chivalric Order rather goes contrary to theme.
Within most orders, the usual rankings go something like:
Grand Cross or Grand Cordon
Grand Officer
Commander
Officer
Knight or Chevalier
Note that there is no such thing as an 'enlisted man' in a knightly order. Certainly, there are men-at-arms that serve, but they are not members of the order.
Would there be any idea of changing the current ranking system to something more consistent with historical orders? |

Hi young man, My name is Gen Elson. I am The GOA of KOP. Thank you for your suggestiom, the reason we select the current US Military rank is because it give the man more room to advance themselve and a reason for them to remain active in this game.
Therefore, we do not intend to change our ranking system. _________________

perhaps it might be a good idea to use the ranks of the british army, as the KoP is an order of english knights.
the ranks are as following:
-Field Marshal
-General
-Lieutenant General
-Major General
-Brigadier
-Colonel
-Lieutenant Colonel
-Major
-Captain
-Lieutenant
-2nd Lieutenant (See Note 1)
-warrant Officer 1st Class
-Warrant Officer 2nd Class
-Sergeant Major (See Note 2)
-Staff Sergeant
-Sergeant
-Corporal
-Lance Corporal
-Private
this is just an idea, but it might make it all a bit more realistic _________________

The only difference is that the US Army has no field marshall. And we are not using warrant officers here. _________________

I agree with diplomat Beregrond that British ranks would seem more fitting to a British army than US ranks. However, I am aware that changing ranks is an unnecessary hassle.
Perhaps it's an idea to use British ranks in the kingdom's army whenever it is created and let each other group choose which ranks they seem fit to use themselves. KoP chose for US ranks, so now we deal with it... It's still better than ancient Roman ranks if you ask me...
